ABS: Along with being a tougher 3D printing material, ABS is effective in resisting high temperatures and abrasion. However, ABS produces odor and emits high fume during the 3D printing process. The 3D printing services providers post-process the objects produced using ABS in several ways – using acetone vapors, acrylic, and sanding paper.

TPU: Many manufacturers opt for TPU to produce objects that are flexible and resist impact. TPU is also effective in resisting oil and grease. But the 3D printing service providers have to put extra time and effort to post-process the objects produced using TPU.

PVA: Despite being a softer polymer, PVA is heavier than both ABS and PLA. Many manufacturers opt for PVA to produce three-dimensional objects that can resist humidity, abrasion, and chemicals. Also, PVA is one of the 3D printing materials that can contact foods safely. The 3D printing service providers post-process the objects using sanding paper or acrylic paints.

Nylon: Along with possessing mechanical qualities, nylon is one of the stronger 3D printing materials. Nylon is also effective in resisting chemicals. But nylon emits huge fume during the 3D printing process. Also, the 3D printing material lacks the capability to absorb moisture.

PC: PC is considered to be the strongest filament for FDM 3D printing. The objects produced using PC can be sterilized seamlessly. Also, the 3D printing service providers can post-process the objects without putting extra time and effort.

Aurum3D for FDM Printing Material

Aurum3D has expertise in 3D printing both consumer and industrial products using different types of plastic filaments. Our in-house team helps clients to understand the pros and cons of every FDM 3D printing material elaborately. Also, we help clients to obtain the desired three-dimensional object by designing, printing, and post-processing the product.

The FDM 3D printers generate a variety of consumer and industrial objects by fusing multiple layers of material in a specific pattern. The FDM 3D printers use the production-grade thermoplastics in the form of plastic filaments. The plastic filaments make FDM 3D printing technologies effective in producing objects which are both strong and durable.

The FDM 3D printers feed the plastic filament into a nozzle. The nozzle melts the thermoplastic and deposits the filament in the form of fine droplets onto the printing tray. As the thermoplastics are melted, it becomes easier for the 3D printing service providers to dye the plastic filaments in a variety of colors.
